History
The predecessor of Tallinn Pedagogical College was the Institute of Household Economy, a private educational institution founded by the Estonian Women’s Association in 1935, in which three different branches were developed: social care, child care and household economy.
- Since 1940 the school is financed from the state budget.
- From 1950 to 1976 only pre-school teachers were trained.
- 1976-2004 operated the music department preparing the music teachers for the pre-schools and basic schools.
- 1982-1999 the primary school teachers were trained, incl teachers for schools teaching in Russian.
- 1990 Social Work Department was reopened.
- 1991 Pre-School Education Department was opened.
- 1992 Youth Work Department was opened.
